A diagnostic method for a control device of a motor vehicle with an electric propulsion motor, including: an electronic control unit (500); a data communication bus (Tx; Rx) connecting at least the electronic control unit (500) and a controller of the electric motor; and a controller (510) of the data communication bus (Tx; Rx); includes the following steps:
- the disabling of the controller (510) of the data communication bus (Tx; Rx) by the electronic control unit (500),the transmission by the electronic control unit of a signal frame on the data communication bus (Tx; Rx),the reading by the electronic control unit of the signals traveling along the data communication bus (Tx; Rx), andthe issue of the positive safety diagnosis if the signal frame is not read by the electronic control unit.
