An optical glass that is oxide glass, containing Si⁴⁺, B³⁺, La³⁺, Ti⁴⁺, Nb⁵⁺, and Zr⁴⁺; containing, denoted as cation %, Si⁴⁺ and B³⁺ of 5 to 55% in total, La³⁺ of 10 to 50%, with a total content of La³⁺, Gd³⁺, Y³⁺ and Yb³⁺≦70%, and Ti⁴⁺, Nb⁵⁺, Ta⁵⁺ and W⁶⁺ of 22 to 55% in total, with a content of Ti⁴⁺≦22%, wherein [Si⁴⁺/(Si⁴⁺+B³⁺)]≦0.40; the total content of La³⁺, Gd³⁺, Y³⁺, Yb³⁺, Zr⁴⁺, Ti⁴⁺, Nb⁵⁺, Ta⁵⁺, W⁶⁺ and Bi³⁺≧65%; [Y³⁺/(La³⁺+Gd³⁺+Y³⁺+Yb³⁺)]≦0.12; [Ba²⁺/(La³⁺+Gd³⁺+Y³⁺+Yb³⁺)]≦0.40; [(Zr⁴⁺+Ti⁴⁺+Nb⁵⁺+Ta⁵⁺+W⁶⁺)/Zr⁴⁺]≧2; (Ti⁴⁺/B³⁺)≧0.85; and an Abbé number νd is in a range from 23 to 35, and a refractive index nd satisfies nd≧2.205−(0.0062×νd).
