A control device according to the invention moves an operation point of an internal combustion engine such that a distribution of engine torque with respect to required torque is reduced and then carries out air-fuel ratio control for reducing an air-fuel ratio of the internal combustion engine in a case where an operation mode of the internal combustion engine should be switched from a lean combustion mode to a stoichiometric combustion mode.
