Abstract
User data is transmitted between a mobile station (10) and a first base station (25), the user data being combined into data units, in particular packet data units, before being transmitted. For transmission of data units, transmission-specific information describing an instantaneous state of the transmission is stored in the mobile station (10) as well as in a first network unit (50) at a higher level than the first base station (25). With the relocation of the mobile station (10) from the first base station (25) to a second base station (30) having a second higher-level network unit (55), the transmission-specific information stored in the first higher-level network unit (50) is transmitted to the second higher-level network unit (55) to continue the transmission after the relocation essentially directly from its latest state.
