A method and system for setting an insulin delivery rate for use in a pump is disclosed. The method includes storing one or more daily basal rate patterns in the pump. The method also includes associating one of the daily basal rate patterns with a day of the week. The method further includes, upon occurrence of the day of the week, executing the daily basal rate pattern.
