Abstract
A seal assembly for a regenerative heat exchanger can include a sealing member with a mounting base and a flexible contact portion having a contact edge that resiliently contacts a sector plate of the heat exchanger housing when the seal assembly is mounted to the heat exchanger. The seal assembly can also include a curvilinear support with a mounting section and a curved extended portion attached to the mounting section and having a predetermined curvature that gradually contacts the flexible contact portion as flexion of the flexible contact portion is increased, thereby gradually moving a flex point of the flexible contact portion toward the contact edge of the curvilinear support and gradually increasing a spring constant of the unsupported end of the flexible contact portion to resist further flexion of the flexible contact portion.
