Process for the regeneration of exhausted catalysts, containing one or more calcium aluminates, for steam cracking reactions, comprising treating said exhausted catalysts in a stream of water vapour at a temperature ranging from 700 to 950.degree. C., preferably from 720 to 850.degree. C., and at a pressure ranging from 0.5 to 2 atm.
