An objective of the present invention is to provide compounds having potent antitumor activity. The compounds of the present invention are represented by formula (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or solvate thereof: ##STR00001## wherein X=CH or N; Z=O or S; L=O or S; M=CR.sup.10R.sup.11, wherein R.sup.10 and R.sup.11=H, alkyl, or alkoxy, NR.sup.12 wherein R.sup.12=H or alkyl; R.sup.1, R.sup.2, and R.sup.3=H or optionally substituted alkoxy; R.sup.4=H; R.sup.5-8=H, halogen, alkoxy or the like; and R.sup.9=alkyl optionally substituted by --R.sup.14, -T-R.sup.15, or --NR.sup.16R.sup.17 wherein T=O, S, or NH; R.sup.14=an optionally substituted carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring; and R.sup.15-17=alkyl or an optionally substituted carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring, or --NR.sup.18R.sup.19 wherein R.sup.18 and R.sup.19=H, optionally substituted alkyl, or an optionally substituted carbocylic or heterocyclic ring, or optionally substituted carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring.
