Abstract
Rinse off hair treatment compositions comprise particles wherein at least 90% by weight of the particles have an average maximum dimension of from 10 nm to 300 .mu.m, the particles comprising a silicone wax having one or more C.sub.3 to C.sub.40, branched or unbranched, saturated or unsaturated, optionally substituted hydrocarbon groups and the wax having a melting point of from 30.degree. C. to 100.degree. C. The compositions can be used in a method of treating hair which comprises: applying to the hair particles wherein at least 90% by weight of the particles have an average maximum dimension of from 10 .mu.m to 300 .mu.m, the particles comprising a silicone wax having one or more C.sub.3 to C.sub.40, branched or unbranched, saturated or unsaturated, optionally substituted hydrocarbon groups and the wax having a melting point of from 30.degree. C. to 100.degree. C.; and heating the hair to a temperature above the melting point of the particles. The method can act to condition the hair.
