Abstract
A conformable, heat-resistant, paintable acrylic-based pressure sensitive adhesive tape and method for adhering the tape to a substrate is provided. The tape is comprised of a solid acrylic-based carrier including an acrylic-based adhesive on both sides of the carrier, and a conformable, heat-resistant liner adhered to at least one side of the adhesive. In use, the tape is adhered on at least one side to a substrate, painted, and then exposed to elevated temperatures such as those encountered in an automotive, appliance, or other commercial paint bake process. The conformable tape can withstand temperatures up to 300.degree. F. and can be painted without degradation of the adhesive or liner and without a reduction of the adhesive properties of the tape.
