Abstract
Novel epoxysuccinamide derivatives represented by the general formula (1) or physiologically acceptable salts thereof, which are useful particularly as remedies for bone diseases and arthritis, wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.3 are each hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, aralkyl, a heterocyclic group, or a heterocyclic-alkyl group; R.sup.2 is alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, aralkyl, a heterocyclic group, or a hetericyclic-alkyl group; X is --O-- or --NR.sup.4 -- (wherein R.sup.4 is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, a heterocyclic group, or a heterocyclic-alkyl group; Y.sup.1 is OR.sup.5, SR.sup.6, or NR.sup.7 R.sup.8 (wherein each of R.sup.5, R.sup.6 and R.sup.7 is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, acyl, a heterocyclic group, or a heterocyclic-alkyl group, and R.sup.8 is the same as defined for R.sup.4); and Y.sup.2 is hydrogen or alkyl, or alternatively Y.sup.1 and Y.sup.2 can be combined to form .dbd.O, .dbd.S, .dbd.N--R.sup.9, or .dbd.N--OR.sup.10 (wherein each of R.sup.9 and R.sup.10 is the same as defined for R.sup.4), provided that each of the alkyl, aryl and heterocyclic groups defined for R.sup.5 to R.sup.10 can have one or more specific substituents and that each of the group defined for R.sup.1 to R.sup.10 and Y.sup.2 is specificed in the number of carbon atoms. ##STR1##
