Abstract
A thermal management device includes anisotropic carbon encapsulated in an encapsulating material that is applied directly to the anisotropic carbon, wherein the anisotropic carbon includes graphite. An electrical system includes the thermal management device and electrical contacts and/or devices provided on the surface of the thermal management device. A method of fabricating a thermal management device includes cleaning a surface of anisotropic carbon, applying a coat of encapsulating material directly to the cleaned surface, and repeating the step of applying until the anisotropic carbon is encapsulated. Other embodiments of the invention are also described.
