Abstract
The present invention relates to dehydrated dextrose monohydrate having a specific surface area of from 0.20 m.sup.2 /g to 0.50 m.sup.2 /g and is reducing the reaction time for preparing chemical compounds selected from the group consisting of alkyl glucoside, alkenyl glucoside, alkyl polyglucosides and alkenyl polyglucosides in a heterogeneous mixture with an alcohol. The present invention further discloses a process for preparing dehydrated dextrose monohydrate and a process for preparing chemical compounds selected from the group consisting of alkyl glucoside, alkenyl glucoside, alkyl polyglucosides and alkenyl polyglucosides by applying dehydrated dextrose monohydrate.
