Abstract
Resins useful in methods of breaking oil-water emulsions. The resins obtained by reacting a compound of formula 1 with an aldehyde and alkoxylating, in any order: ##STR1## wherein X is --NHR.sup.1 ; --COOH; or --CONHR.sup.2 ; and is ortho--, meta-- or para-- to X and is a radical of --O--R.sup.3 ; --C(O)R.sup.4 ; --OC(O)R.sup.5 ; --NR.sup.6 R.sup.7 ; wherein R.sup.1 -R.sup.7 values are defined herein.
