A herbicidal composition, comprising: (a) at least one arylthiadiazole having the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein: R represents linear or branched C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl or haloalkyl; or C.sub.3 -C.sub.5 cycloalkyl or halocycloalkyl; said alkyl, haloalkyl, cycloalkyl or halocycloalkyl being optionally substituted with linear or branched C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl; X represents halogen; Y represents halogen; linear or branched C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or haloalkyl; linear or branched C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxyl or haloalkoxyl; R.sub.1 represents hydrogen or methyl; and (b) one or more herbicidal compounds.
