Abstract
An antiviral agent of an antiviral ability against various viruses and a method of producing the same are provided. A heat treatment is applied to a calcium-containing substance represented by calcium carbonate-containing substances originating from the animal such as clamshell, eggshell, crustacean shell, bone, coral, and pearl, and calcium carbonate-containing minerals such as limestone. When a temperature of the heat treatment is not less than 650.degree. C. and less than a melting point of the calcium component-containing substance, a sufficient time of the heat treatment is 2 to 13 hours.
