Abstract

Oximeester compounds of the formulae I, II, III and IV ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is phenyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 alkyl or C.sub.2 -C.sub.20 alkyl optionally interrupted by --O--, C.sub.2 -C.sub.20 alkanoyl or benzoyl, or R.sub.1 is C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 alkoxycarbonyl or phenoxycarbonyl; R.sub.1 ' is C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 alkoxycarbonyl, or R.sub.1 ' is phenoxycarbonyl, or R.sub.1 ' is --CONR.sub.10 R.sub.11 or CN; R.sub.2 is C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 alkanoyl, C.sub.4 -C.sub.6 alkenoyl, benzoyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkoxycarbonyl or phenoxycarbonyl; R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5, R.sub.6 and R.sub.7 are hydrogen, halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl, cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl, phenyl, benzyl, benzoyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 alkanoyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 alkoxycarbonyl, phenoxycarbonyl or a group OR.sub.8, SR.sub.9, SOR.sub.9, SO.sub.2 R.sub.9 or NR.sub.10 R.sub.11 ; R.sub.4 ', R.sub.5 ' and R.sub.6 ' are hydrogen, halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl, cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl, phenyl, benzyl, benzoyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 -alkanoyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 alkoxycarbonyl, phenoxycarbonyl, or are a group OR.sub.8, SR.sub.9, SOR.sub.9, SO.sub.2 R.sub.9, NR.sub.10 R.sub.11 ; provided that at least one of R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5, R.sub.6, R.sub.7, R'.sub.4, R'.sub.5 and R'.sub.6 is OR.sub.8, SR.sub.9 or NR.sub.10 R.sub.11 ; R.sub.8, R.sub.9, R.sub.10 and R.sub.11 are for example hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl, phenyl; are suitable as initiators for the photopolymerization of radically polymerizable compounds.
