Abstract
An object of the present invention is to provide a method of preventing the over-adhesion of paper onto the surface of a press roll for a long time and preventing both wear and contamination in a paper machine. To do so, there is adopted a method of, in a press roll in a state in which paper is being supplied by driving a paper machine, preventing the over-adhesion of the paper onto a surface of the press roll, wherein wax whose melting point is lower than the surface temperature of the press roll is continuously supplied to a direct surface of the rotating press roll by the amount of 0.01 to 10 mg/m.sup.2, that is a calculation on the basis of passing paper.
