Abstract
The present invention is directed to aromatic derivatives of formula (I), wherein: R.sub.1 is (a), wherein R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are selected from between H and OH, provided that R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are not simultaneously H, and R.sub.2 is H; or R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 taken together, are (b), wherein R.sub.5 is selected from between CH.sub.3 and (CH.sub.2).sub.5 OH, to the iron complexes thereof, and to their use for the preparation of pharmaceutical compositions for the normalization of iron level. ##STR1##
