Abstract

Process for producing a drawn wire, in particular a wire for reinforcing tires, having a diameter of less than 0.3 mm by drawing a base wire rod having a diameter of greater than 5 mm or a predrawn base wire made of steel with the following composition by weight: carbon.ltoreq.40.times.10.sup.-3 % nitrogen.ltoreq.40.times.10.sup.-3 %, the carbon and nitrogen satisfying the relationship C+N.ltoreq.50.times.10.sup.-3 %, 0.2%.ltoreq.silicon.ltoreq.1.0%, 0.2%.ltoreq.manganese.ltoreq.5%, 9%.ltoreq.nickel.ltoreq.12%, 15%.ltoreq.chromium.ltoreq.20%, 1.5%.ltoreq.copper.ltoreq.4%, sulfur.ltoreq.10.times.10.sup.-3 %, phosphorus<0.050%, 40.times.10.sup.-4 %.ltoreq.total oxygen.ltoreq.120.times.10.sup.-4 %, 0.1.times.10.sup.-4 %.ltoreq.aluminum.ltoreq.20.times.10.sup.-4 %, magnesium.ltoreq.5.times.10.sup.-4 %, 0.1.times.10.sup.-4 %.ltoreq.calcium.ltoreq.5.times.10.sup.-4 %, titanium.ltoreq.50.times.10.sup.-4 %, impurities inherent in the manufacture, in which steel the inclusions of oxides have, in the form of a glassy mixture, the following proportions by weight: 30%.ltoreq.SiO.sub.2.ltoreq.65%, 5%.ltoreq.MnO.ltoreq.40%, 1%.ltoreq.CaO.ltoreq.30%, 0%.ltoreq.MgO.ltoreq.10%, 3%.ltoreq.Al.sub.2 O.sub.3.ltoreq.25%, 0%.ltoreq.Cr.sub.2 O.sub.3.ltoreq.10%.
