Abstract
A knife drum for a web cross-cutting machine has a generally cylindrical drum body centered on an axis and formed by inner and outer tubes. The inner tube is reinforced with fibers extending helicoidally of the axis at positive and negative angles of 30.degree. to 60.degree. crosswise of one another. The outer tube is fitted coaxially in direct engagement over the inner tube and is reinforced with fibers extending at an angle of less than 30.degree. to the axis. It further is formed with a full-length radially outwardly open groove holding a blade holder in turn carrying a blade.
