A novel compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a halogen atom, an optionally substituted heterocyclic, hydroxy, thiol or amino group; A is an optionally substituted acyl group, an optionally substituted heterocyclic group, an optionally substituted hydroxy group, or an optionally esterified or amidated carboxy group; B is an optionally substituted aromatic group; Y is a divalent aliphatic hydrocarbon group, or a salt thereof, which have an excellent insulin secertion-promoting and blood sugar-depressing effect, and useful in agents for diabetes.
