A process for preparing polyamines of the formula ##STR1## by selective introduction of the groups Z--CH.sub.2 -- at the terminal nitrogens from a polyamine having no nitrogen substituents by formation of bis-hexahydropyrimidine derivative, acylation, reduction of acyl group to give Z--CH.sub.2 --, and solvolysis.
