Abstract
The invention relates to a process for the preparation of bamifylline or etamiphylline, in which a mixture comprising: a) theophylline or 8-benzyltheophyl-line; b) an alkyl dihalide; and c) a molar excess of an amine is reacted in the presence of a weak base, the reaction being carried out at a temperature higher than 90.degree. C. and under a pressure higher than 10.sup.5.
