Abstract
A cold rolling work roll having improved grindability is made from forged steel of a composition consisting, by weight, essentially of: C: 0.70-1.20%, Si: 0.15-1.00%, Mn: 0.15-1.00%, Cr: 1.5-5.5%, Mo: not mroe than 0.60%, Ti: up to 0.0029%, V: 0.1-0.49%, Ni: 0-1.0%, Fe and incidental impurities: balance. Preferably the maximum particle size of the carbides is adjusted to be no more than 1.50 .mu.m.
