Abstract
There is disclosed a method for forming silver halide grains and a method for processing a silver halide photographic material using the same. The method for forming silver halide grains comprises using at least one iodide-ion-releasing compound represented by the following formula (I) or (II): I--L--So.sub.3.sup.- M.sup.+ formula (I) wherein L represents a divalent organic group and M.sup.+ represents a hydrogen ion or a monovalent cation, ##STR1## wherein L represents a divalent organic group, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, which are the same or different, each represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aralkyl group, or an aryl group, which groups may be substituted, and R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 may bond together to form a ring.
