The azo dyes of the formula I ##STR1## where X.sup.1 is for example hydrogen or (C.sub.1 to C.sub.6)alkyl, X.sup.2 is cyano or nitro, X.sup.3 is for example hydrogen or (C.sub.1 to C.sub.4)alkoxy, X.sup.4 is for example (C.sub.1 to C.sub.4)alkoxy, chlorine or hydrogen, R.sup.1 is hydrogen or (C.sub.1 to C.sub.6)alkyl, R.sup.2 is hydrogen or (C.sub.1 to C.sub.6)alkyl and R.sup.3 is for example (C.sub.1 to C.sub.8)alkyl, are highly suitable for dyeing and printing hydrophobic fiber materials.
