An oral composition comprising cetylpyridinium chloride and a N.sup..alpha. -longer acyl basic amino acid lower alkyl ester or a salt thereof. The oral composition of the present invention promotes adsorption of cetylpyridinium chloride as a bactericide to the surfaces of teeth and shows excellent prevention of formation of dental plaque and dental caries.
