Novel peptides having substantially the amino acid sequence: X-Gly-Asn-Gly-Asp-Glu-Gln-Pro-Leu-Thr-Y, where X is H, a single amino acid or a short-chain peptide and Y is OH, NH.sub.2, a single aminoacid or a short-chain peptide. These peptides have natriuretic and diuretic activity.
