Abstract
The invention relates to amido-linked oligosaccharide alditols, i.e. oligosaccharide alditols with an amido linkage, having the general formula ##STR1## wherein: R.sub.1 =the alditol portion of a mono-, di- or oligosaccharide alditol, in which the alditol portion has 2 to 6 carbon atoms, and R.sub.2 =the alditol portion of a mono-, di- or oligosaccharide alditol, in which the alditol portion has 3 to 7 carbon atoms and is combined with the terminal or another carbon atom. They are manufactured by N-acylation of amino polyols derived from saccharides, with a sugar acid in the presence of methanol or in aprotic polar solvents.
