Abstract
Tetrabromophthalic acid esters of pentabromobenzyl alcohol with a softening temperature of 270.degree.-280.degree. C. and a bromine content of about 75% by weight and of a tetrakis(bromomethyl)-o-xylylene glycol with a softening temperature of 220.degree.-230.degree. C. and a bromine content of about 67% by weight are good flame retardants for synthetic resins.
