Abstract
A lane change support device determines whether or not the vehicle can change the lane ahead of the other vehicle by determining whether or not the sum of the distance traveled by the vehicle to move forward by the lane change by the predetermined preceding distance with respect to the other vehicle traveling ahead of the lane change destination lane, and the distance traveled by the vehicle during the predetermined allowance time is equal to or less than the distance from the current position of the vehicle to the branching point, or whether or not the sum of the time for the vehicle to move forward by the lane change by the predetermined preceding distance with respect to the other vehicle and the predetermined allowance time is equal to or less than the time at which the vehicle reaches the branching point.
