Abstract
A novel diamond Resin Composite (DRC) includes 30-60 wt % diamond particles and a multi-monomer resin blend, enhanced with select photoinitiators and coinitiators. The diamond particles can be synthetic, acquired through high-pressure high-temperature (HPHT), or chemical vapor deposition (CVD) methods or hot-filament chemical vapor deposition (HFCVD) or DC plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (DC-PECVD) methods. The DRC contains fluorine doping of diamonds, achieved via reactive gas precursors or fluorine-rich plasma. Supplementary agents enrich the composite's versatility. The diamonds within the DRC are diverse in size, shape, and surface treatments, notably featuring terminations by hydrogen, oxygen, or fluorine. In dental restorations, diamonds are combined with a light-sensitive resin, and the mixture undergoes light-induced photopolymerization.
