Abstract
A system includes an intraoral scanner configured to generate intraoral scan data comprising intraoral images of an arch of a patient, and a computing device operatively coupled to the intraoral scanner. The computing device is configured to receive the intraoral scan data comprising the intraoral images of the arch generated during scanning of the arch by the intraoral scanner, a plurality of objects each comprising a surface pattern having been applied onto the arch of the patient prior to the scanning of the arch, wherein at least some of the intraoral images comprise representations of one or more objects of the plurality of objects. The computing device is further configured to generate a three-dimensional (3D) model of the arch using the intraoral images that comprise representations of the one or more objects and output the 3D model to a display.
