Abstract

A vehicle door latch includes a casing including an opening to receive a striker in the closed position of the door, a rotatable hook disposed in the casing to get detachably engaged with the striker by rotating between closed and opened positions, a pawl mechanism disposed in the casing for moving between a blocking position wherein the pawl mechanism blocks the rotation of the rotatable hook and a release position, an electrical motor linked to the pawl for moving the pawl between its blocking and release positions, and a manual release mechanism including an actuator linked to the pawl mechanism and extending outside of the casing and including a lever that can be grabbed by a user to manually move the pawl mechanism between its blocking and release positions, the manual release mechanism can also block the actuator in the release or blocking position of the pawl mechanism.
