Abstract

The present technology includes medical treatment systems having patient-specific interbody implants and patient-specific positioning guides. The patient-specific interbody implant can be specifically designed to permanently occupy a first target location in the patient, and the patient-specific positioning guide can be specifically designed to temporarily occupy a second target location in the patient. Both the patient-specific interbody implant and the patient-specific positioning guide can be coupled to the same inserter instrument at a predetermined spatial orientation such that when the patient-specific positioning guide is positioned at the second target location, the patient-specific interbody implant is automatically directed into the first target location. Methods for designing and manufacturing patient-specific implants and positioning guides are also described herein.
