The present disclosure is directed to a visibly transparent infrared reflector (VTIR) configured for suppression of emitted infrared radiation for personal thermal management and thermal camouflage. The reflector being configured to enable independent control over optical properties in the visible spectral region. The VTIR coating is comprises using a nano-mesh patterning strategy combined with an oxide/metal/oxide (OMO) trilayer structure having an optimized hole size and coating thickness.
