The present disclosure relates to an automated method for predicting compatibility of assemblies for a functional unit of a field device of automation technology. With targeting, those combinations of assemblies are selected, which in combination lead to a functional unit, which can be described by functional parameters, wherein the functional parameters lie within a predetermined value range as a function of the particular application of the field device.
