Abstract
A rotor for an electric machine is disclosed herein. The rotor is configured to rotate about a rotation axis. The rotor comprises: a rotor drum and a hub. The rotor drum supports an array of permanent magnets thereon and the rotor drum having a longitudinal axis coaxial with the rotation axis. The hub is nested within the rotor drum for supporting the rotor drum and the hub being coaxial with the rotor drum and coupled thereto. The magnets in the array are arranged to provide a Halbach array comprising a series of alternating polarity permanent magnets separated by pusher permanent magnets therebetween.
