Abstract
According to one embodiment, an inverter device includes a switching circuit and a controller. The switching circuit includes a plurality of series circuits of switch elements which are upstream and downstream along the direction of application of DC voltage, and each phase winding is connected to the mutual connection point of each switch element of these series circuits. The controller determines abnormality of each switch element according to a state of the current flowing between the switching circuit and the motor while sequentially switching a plurality of current paths through each switch element to the predetermined direction of each phase winding.
