Abstract
A method of inhibiting or killing the growth of bacteria onto human skin by topically applying onto human skin an effective amount of a personal cleansing composition. The bacteria is selected from Escherichia coli at a pH up to or equal to about 4 in solution, Cutibacterium acnes, and/or Corynebacterium minutissimum. The personal cleansing composition includes a salt of an alkenyl sulfate ester having an alkenyl chain. The alkenyl chain includes from 18 to 20 carbon atoms, or an isomer thereof, or mixtures thereof.
