An observing device includes an orientable optronic sight connected to a first electronic unit arranged to command acquisition according to image-capture parameters and an orientable optical sight connected to a second electronic unit arranged to communicate to the first electronic control unit image-capture parameters of the optical sight, the first electronic unit having a slave operating mode in which the optronic sight is commanded to make acquisitions according to the image-capture parameters of the optical sight and at least one autonomous operating mode in which the optronic sight is commanded to make acquisitions independently of the image-capture parameters of the optical sight.
