Abstract

In an embodiment, a vehicle includes sensors configured to generate sensor information by sensing the surroundings of the vehicle and an electronic control unit (ECU) configured to execute code. The code can have instructions for the ECU to generate a warning area and a first path trajectory of the vehicle using the sensor information when the vehicle is driven backward, detect a target vehicle located around the generated warning area, generate a target area and a second path trajectory of the target vehicle when the target vehicle is detected, extract a first overlapping area between the target area and the warning area and a second overlapping area between the first path trajectory and the second path trajectory, and perform control whether to issue a rear cross collision warning depending on changes in the first overlapping area and the second overlapping area.
