Abstract
A buffering capsule for buffering an anesthetic cartridge may include a housing including a hollow body, a closed distal end including a receptacle, and an opening opposite the closed distal end. The buffering capsule may include a buffering solution disposed within the receptacle and a flexible piston disposed within the receptacle in sealing contact with the buffering solution, wherein the flexible piston is axially movable within the housing. The buffering capsule may include a cannula holder axially movable within the housing and in contact with the flexible piston. The cannula holder may include a cannula fixedly attached to the cannula holder. The flexible piston may be capable of receiving a first sharpened point of the cannula. The buffering solution disposed within the receptacle may be fluidly connected to an anesthetic liquid in an anesthetic cartridge via the cannula. A process for buffering an anesthetic cartridge is also disclosed.
