Abstract
A system including a first sensor, a second sensor, and one or more processors. The one or more processors are configured to receive a first signal from the first sensor configured to detect a presence of a king pin within a throat of a fifth-wheel hitch of a vehicle, the first sensor coupled to the fifth-wheel hitch of the vehicle; assign a first value to the first signal; receive a second signal from the second sensor configured to detect a jaw of the fifth-wheel hitch, the second sensor cooperatively coupled to the fifth-wheel hitch of the vehicle; assign a second value to the second signal; determine if the first value exceeds a first threshold; determine if the second value exceeds a second threshold; and responsive to at least one of the first value not exceeding the first threshold or the second value not exceeding the second threshold, disable the vehicle.
