Abstract
Underwater energy generation and storage systems for use in a water body includes a floating platform for supporting a compressor assembly and surface electrical generators; a ballast platform for anchoring the floating platform and optionally supporting submerged electrical generators; a cylinder between the floating platform and the ballast platform; and an air/water tank moveable along the cylinder to generate electrical energy both in an upstroke towards the floating platform and a downstroke towards the ballast platform. The air/water tank may include a magnet assembly, with the cylinder including magnetic coil assemblies. The cylinder may be in the form of a rotatable cylindrical cam. Methods of using the systems are also provided.
