Abstract
A positioning device for positioning and securing an animal during imaging or surgical procedures comprising a body portion, the body portion comprising a closed-cell foam to thereby provide a highly radiolucent, cleanable and re-usable positioning device. The foam can be a cross-link foam. The body portion comprises a support portion and a trough portion above the support portion for retaining an animal in a trough opening of the positioning device. The trough portion comprises opposing wedge members having angled support walls. In embodiments, the trough is substantially V-shaped, while in others the trough has a flat surface. The angled support walls form a trough angle of selected degrees.
