Abstract
In an embodiment, a vehicle cabin air quality management system and method includes providing a vehicle, a GPS device in the vehicle, an air recirculation flap in the vehicle configured to control admission and recirculation of air into the vehicle, and a module for controlling the air recirculation flap. The method includes providing an Internet-connected server storing an air quality map. The method includes the vehicle moving through locations, each of the locations associated with a respective timestamp, calculating a projected path for the vehicle based on a recent set of the locations, calculating air quality indices along the projected path using the air quality map, calculating a flap position recommendation based on at least a one of the air quality indices, and the module determining a recirculation flap position of the air recirculation flap from at least the flap position recommendation.
