Abstract
A door top child safety lock mechanism comprises a body slidably mountable on a door top and a channel and a locking plate. The channel includes a web extending between first and second flanges. The lock plate extends from the first flange and defines a locking slot extending along a slot axis. The lock plate further defines an interlock cut-out formed along a distal edge, relative to the first flange, of the locking slot, wherein first width WG at the interlock cut-out is greater than second width WL in a region that is laterally intervening between the interlock cut-out and the open end of the locking slot. A peg is mountable to a door frame and configured to slide through the open end of the locking slot and between the proximal and distal edges of the locking slot.
