Abstract
A device, system and method are provided for managing network devices in sleep mode or power save mode. Data addressed to devices connected to an access point is temporarily stored. A standard beacon signal and a wake-up beacon signal are transmitted. The standard beacon frame includes information to connect devices to the network and scheduling information identifying broadcast times of the wake-up beacon signals. The scheduling information causes the devices to listen during an identified time for a wake-up beacon signal. The wake-up beacon signal includes traffic indication map information identifying devices that have data addressed thereto, which causes only devices identified to have data addressed thereto to temporarily wake or stay awake from sleep mode or power save mode until the one or more devices retrieve the data addressed thereto.
